She’s a modern bride

Portraits

November 25th, 2009

Alright, truth be told, she’s not a bride at all. But she might be one of these days. Kelly is a fellow photographer and she put on her indie-bride best for a fun shoot.

Look at that saucy red hair!

Kelly is actually just as fun in person as she looks in these pictures. Maybe even more fun.

Thanks Kelly, for being such a great sport and for putting on the charm!

The lovely Maalaea

Portraits

November 24th, 2009

Maalaea is my buddy and she’s also a fellow photographer. Not to mention she’s lovely. At our beach trip, Maalaea packed along her wedding dress and the photos are so much fun.

The one thing she said was, “Guys, I’m not getting wet.” Whoops.

I love pairing her crisp white dress with these brown boots and the beachy dune grass in her hair.

Thanks Maalaea, for being a great model and a great friend!

Meet Kelly and Jon.

Portraits

November 19th, 2009

Kelly and Jon are friends of my family — I knew Kelly from day one — and it was so fun to spend some time with she and her husband Jon a few weeks ago when the fall leaves were perfect.

I love their interaction — they laughed and smiled at each other the whole time. But don’t be fooled — Kelly and Jon are super hard core. They just ran the Portland Marathon together last month.

Thanks, Kelly and Jon, for coming out to be photographed! It’s always so fun to see you both!

Pretty mom

Portraits

November 18th, 2009

Sometimes it’s fun just to shoot for fun, and so my friend Audra agreed earlier this month to don her wedding dress again. She was stunning, and so was the vineyard I photographed her in. This was a fun shoot because Audra’s husband James and daughter Wynter were following along, watching, and Wynter seemed totally taken with her mommy all dressed up. It was really sweet.

Because I couldn’t help myself, here are a few shots of Wynter as she played and watched our shoot.

Thanks Audra, for donning the dress and working it for me. You guys are so fun and I can’t wait to do your family pictures for Christmas!

Five years later

Portraits

I find it so refreshing to have happily married friends — I’ve got quite a few, and my photographer buddy Katie and her husband Greg are no exception. About a month ago, we went out to do a practice shoot together and it was so much fun!

Katie and Greg are such a happy couple, and they’ve been married for five years. She even still fits into her wedding dress!

I shot these photos at Kruger Farms on Sauvie Island — talk about a beautiful spot.

Katie is seriously so pretty, and such a happy person. She’s infectious and she shares her enthusiasm with everyone around her.

Thanks Katie and Greg, for letting me photograph you guys! It was loads of fun.

The teacher and the coach

Portraits

October 14th, 2009

It’s my favorite time of year — fall. Fall is also Amanda’s favorite time of year. She and Cody came out with me on one of the first really crisp fall day a couple of weeks ago and it was heavenly. The leaves are all just starting to turn and there were pumpkins all around at the McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse.

Amanda is a teacher at our alma mater, Jesuit, and Cody coaches football at Western Oregon University. What a perfect match — a teacher and a coach.

I love the two of them together — she’s short and he’s tall, she’s blonde and he’s got darker hair. I think they’re a great match. Besides, they make each other laugh, which is really what matters in the end.

Thanks Amanda and Cody, for coming out and enjoying one of those perfect fall mornings with me. It was so much fun!

The glad hoof

Portraits

October 5th, 2009

My friend Erika has always loved horses. She loves them so much that she started her own barefoot hoof trimming business in Denmark, where she lives now, and it’s become a huge success. A few weeks ago, when we were visiting her, I got to tag along and take some photos of her in action, keeping hooves healthy and maintained so that the horses don’t need horseshoes.

Professional photographer, Copenhagen, Denmark

She wears the scarf so that the horses don’t eat her hair — they’ve tried before.

It was so fun to watch you do what you do, Erika. I’m so proud of you and how hard you’ve worked to launch your business.

Women making a difference

Portraits

September 4th, 2009

Awhile back, I had the opportunity to photograph these three lovely and ambitious women for their new Web site. This is Jenna, Darcy and Inbar, and together they make up the DSW Collective, or Designs for a Sustainable World. They do sustainability consulting and training, and it was so fun to photograph them.

Portrait photographer, Portland Oregon

I love women who are all about making a difference, but these women are also determined to have fun along the way. That’s important, and I love what they’re building. I can’t wait to see where it all goes from here.

Portrait photographer, Portland, Oregon

Thanks, ladies, for being great fun to photograph and for waking up every day with new resolve to make a real difference.

She now pronounces you man and wife

Portraits

June 11th, 2009

There’s something really cool about woman ministers. I’ve always admired them, and I had the chance to meet a wonderful woman minister last week named Diane. She needed some new photos for her new Web site, which is still being developed and will be up soon. We had such fun wandering around Portland’s Rose Garden in bloom.

Professional headshot photographer, Portland, Oregon

Diane performs weddings, funerals, baptisms and all other sorts of ceremonies, and I think she’d be a great choice for a wedding. She has a real joy about her, and is so genuine. If you’re looking for someone to do a ceremony for you and you’d like Diane’s information before her Web site goes up, feel free to check in with me and I can pass you along to her.

Professional headshot photographer, Portland, Oregon

Thank you, Diane, for being such fun to photograph! I enjoyed meeting you and I hope we get to work together on a wedding soon!

As a note to all you blog readers, if you’re looking for headshots, I offer a simple package for $125 which gets you about an hour of my time, plus 15-20 photos on a disc. Contact me to get on the calendar!

What do you promote?

Portraits

June 10th, 2009

If you have a small business like I do, chances are you’re always looking for ways to get your name out there. My sister Amanda knows how to do that.

Professional headshot photographer, Portland Oregon

This is Amanda, and she owns her own company called Walker Promotions. She can get you pens with your logo on them, USB drives, folders, business cards or a plethora of other cool stuff. I especially like the stuff she has that’s green, from using soy-based inks to recycled products. If you’re looking for a way to get your business name out there, check out her site here!

Professional headshot photographer, Portland Oregon

We got some new photos for her recently so she’d have some to use for her site, etc. Isn’t she cool? Thanks Amanda!
