MarryThis! 07: Charming Brunch Wedding

Putting together the photo shoots for the MarryThis! guides over the past year has been one of my favorite projects ever. I’m moving on from the project this month (and leaving it in the incredibly creative hands of Allison, one of my collaborators on the project who is now taking it in her own direction). Keep watching it — she has the most amazing ideas.

This guide, which is all about planning a charming brunch wedding, was one of my favorites to shoot. If you want to see more of the photos, download the guide for free over at MarryThis!

Photo Shoot: MarryThis! Guide 05

Earlier today, we launched a brand-new guide over at MarryThis! Styling and shooting these guides has become one of my favorite projects — and this one was no exception. I thought I’d show you some of my favorite shots from this shoot. To see more from the shoot, check out the guide, which is a free download.

Those gorgeous flowers came from Rosemary Stafford, one of my favorite local florists (and people). That stunning hairpiece is from Serephine, run by one of my other all-time-favorite people, Erin Brooks.

Paragon Restaurant & Bar played host to us for the day — they have really terrific event space right in the Pearl, where we put together this photo shoot.

Those invitations are part of the invitation suite that MarryThis! just released. Love them? They’re for sale in our shop.

Now on to that beautiful woman. That’s Megan Clark, of Clark & Co. She’s wearing a beautiful dress from Charlotte’s, one of my favorite local dress shops.

Finally, her hair and makeup was done by DeAnn, one of the geniuses behind Face Body Beauty. What a dream team!

MarryThis! Photo Shoot: Casual Woodsy Wedding

I know that some of you have had a chance to view these images in our MarryThis! Guide to a Casual Woodsy Wedding. It’s a photo shoot I did for MarryThis! and I wanted to share it here since I have so many favorites from the shoot! Big thanks to Olivia and Brian, who came out and modeled for this guide. They have such great chemistry!

Love all these amazing fall-colored flowers from Rosemary Stafford Floral Design! She’s amazing.

Olivia modeled as a child — I can totally tell! I love how natural she is in front of the camera.

The All-New MarryThis!

For the past few months, while I’ve been photographing weddings and working on other things for Sara Gray Photography, I’ve also been working on the relaunch of MarryThis! I started MarryThis! back in March with my dear friends Amy Trang and Allison Doty Schexnayder, who I met at Washington State University during my time working for the student newspaper.

We have had an absolute blast producing original content in the form of wedding guides and now, a budget wedding planning blog! We have been launching what I’d call Version 2 of MarryThis! last week and this week, and I’m enormously proud of it.

MarryThis!

Our blog is really fun — we’re all three blogging about all the things a budget bride needs to be able to pull it all off. We’ll also be hosting giveaways and providing inspiration along the way. Come read, add us to your RSS reader or check in when you feel like reading about weddings!

MarryThis!

And of course, in the shop we’re now offering a new version of our wedding guides. The guide itself is totally free, and goes into loads of depth about how to pull off a stylish budget wedding for individual themes (we launch a new one each month) and we’re also offering seriously awesome printables, from customizable invitations to table numbers, thank you notes and way more.

Thanks for all your support in the past with MarryThis! — we’re excited to see where it leads and excited to have it up and running once again.

Introducing MarryThis! Guide 06: The Romantic Summer Wedding

Today, we over at MarryThis! are launching our sixth guide in the series. It’s always so exciting to me when we launch a new guide. This one is an exciting one to launch — my friend Ami Price from Elizabeth Anne Designs styled this concept from her vision of a “trend-free wedding,” where she chose things based only on their beauty instead of around a theme, and the final effect is seriously gorgeous. Here are some photos from the guide photo shoot, which we put together in May in Chicago.

Vintage china rentals added a really nice soft touch in this concept — I’ve been seeing vintage rental companies pop up all over recently!

Those amazing floral arrangements (and lots of styling and support) came from the incomparable Kelly from Fleur in Chicago.

Our models for this shoot are actually engaged, and if I remember correctly they just got married over the weekend. Congrats, you guys!

Thanks to all the amazing people who worked hard to make this photo shoot, and this guide, happen! Thanks for showing me a good time in Chicago, too.

Meet MarryThis! 05: The Chic All-White Wedding

I’m so excited to be able to share this photo shoot with you all, because it’s a new favorite! It’s the shoot for MarryThis! Guide 05: The Chic All-White Wedding, which was just released today. It’s so fun to get to work on these guides with such a great team and such amazing vendors.

Wedding photographer, Portland Oregon

We put together this shoot on-site at the DeSoto Rooftop Terrace, owned by the Art of Catering in Portland. They do amazing work, and this space, tucked onto a beautiful rooftop in Old Town, is really a stunning wedding site. It’s quiet, it’s intimate and I loved working there.

Have you seen these heirloom-quality ringbearer bowls by Paloma’s Nest? This one is called the Calligraphy Ring Bearer Bowl. They are really beautiful, and delicate but sturdy when you hold them. I totally want one even though I’m already married.

Our invitations came from Love Vs. Design (they offer a printable PDF as an invite option, which is a pretty great way to save money and still have chic invites). The hair accessories (above, right) are from Serephine.

I worked with Ferntree Flowers to get this gorgeous bridal bouquet lined up. Isn’t it awesome? They make a great assortment of paper flowers. One of the things that makes this wedding really unique is that we used no real flowers in the making of it. It’s a great way to save some cash and to be able to hang on to something from your wedding after it’s all over.

The Art of Catering provided a gorgeous appetizer spread for this wedding — above, a gravlax morsel atop rice. I can vouch — this was super delicious.

Our rentals (tables, chairs, plates, glassware and flatware) came from The Party Place.

Our dresses (the brides and bridesmaids’) came from Embellish Design & Olivia Luca. The jewelry is from the crazy talented Sahlia Michelle.

MarryThis! 04: 1940s Americana Wedding

I’ve been spending a whole lot of my time and energy on developing a great collection of MarryThis! guides — this last month, it was so fun to work on this one. Along with a stellar team, we put together a 1940s Americana theme wedding photo shoot that is now MarryThis! Guide 04: 1940s Americana Wedding. I wanted to share some of the photos here.

We put together this wedding concept at The Museum of Flight in Seattle — what a stunning location!

Our gorgeous flowers came from Liz Ruznac with Fleur:ology. She used lipstick red blooms throughout, and it came out so nice!

The incomparable Erin Brooks from Serephine provided us with awesome hair accessories, including the Gemma Veil (above, on Michelle). Kathy Evans Beauty Studio did our models’ hair and makeup — amazing!

Our invitations (aren’t they adorable?) came from Champagne Sunday on Etsy.

Look at that amazing candy and dessert buffet! The master of the sweets table Liz Gomez from The Candy Buffet used vintage treats to make it happen.
