I mean James, Audra and Wynter, of course — they came out last week in the freezing cold to an outdoor location to have their Christmas photos taken. Poor Wynter was shivering the whole time.

Good thing James let her snuggle up inside his coat!

It’s been so fun to photograph this family a couple of times as Wynter grows more and more.

In a rush to enter the world

Meet Baby Henry — he is Amanda and Chris’ brand-new son. I very rarely photograph newborns, but Chris and Amanda are our friends and he was such a cute little addition, I couldn’t help but bring my camera along when we went to meet him over the weekend.

As I mentioned in the title of this post, Henry was in a rush to enter the world — when Amanda went into labor a couple of weeks ago, it was only a few short hours before Henry was born. He was born before his grandmas could even get to the hospital to help with her labor!

Both new mom and little Henry are doing great and it was so fun to see our friends and their new son.

Congratulations, friends! We like Henry already and we can’t wait to watch him grow.

The magic of sisters

I love being one of three sisters — there was lots of girly fun in my house growing up. That’s also why it was so fun to photograph this family — sisters Michelle, Rachel and Danielle are in 8th, 7th and 4th grade and you can tell they have lots of fun together.

This family was so much fun and so sweet to each other.

This totally reminds me of my family and how my dad likes to horse around with us girls.

Thank you Steven, Joelle, Michelle, Rachel and Danielle! I had so much fun meeting and photographing you!

The most well-behaved girl in the room

It is so much fun to photograph well-behaved kids. That’s why I had so much fun with Allie and her parents when we got together to do some portraits for their Christmas cards this year.

Allie also gets extra points since she completely picked her own outfit. I love the all-red ensemble.

I love it! What a sweet family. Thanks, Allie, Heather and Rick, for being so much fun (and sooooo easy!) to work with.

A growing family

Literally, the last time I saw my friend Angie, she had just found out she was pregnant with Grace. Grace is almost five. It’s ridiculous how fast time flies sometimes.

Angie and her husband Josh, plus their daughters Grace and Eileeta, had also waited way, way, way too long (since before Grace was one) to have their family photos taken. I was so excited to get to meet up with them on a surprisingly sunny day a little more than a week ago to photograph them.

Both Grace and Eileeta are total characters — I think they keep their parents plenty busy.

Thanks, Angie and Josh, Grace and Eileeta, for being so much fun to photograph. You’re such a great family and I can’t wait to watch your family grow.

Quite a bit in common

When Jennifer scheduled her session, she had one request: Fall leaves! But by four days later, when we got out into them, a lot had fallen off the trees. I do love what we got, though — spending time with she and her husband Scott was so much fun!

Scott and Jennifer have a lot in common with Eric and I — they met right around the same time we did and got married a couple of weeks before we did. I’m a big fan of the small world effect.

When we did find leaves, we used them — I even made them throw leaves, which ended up in their hair and stuck to their backs. At least we got a good laugh out of it.

Jennifer and Scott, it was so wonderful to meet you both and get to photograph you together. I can’t wait to see you guys again!

A day in the life

I remember when my friend Angie told us she was having twins. And her older son had just turned one. She was wide-eyed. But now her twins are a little older than a year, and they’re the sweetest family. A day in the life is a little nuts — I usually read about her hilarious experiences on her blog — but there is so much love in their house, not to mention three of the cutest kids I know.

Angie and Sam are celebrating their tenth anniversary this year, so we got together and took some family photos over Labor Day weekend. I love how laid-back and happy they all are.

Manny is a great brother to Glory and Elena.

Above is Angie’s mom, Jan, and her husband Mike. Jan is my godmother, and met my mom when she was pregnant with me. We go way back.

Non-stop laughs

Do you remember Stefanie and Marc’s wedding earlier this summer? Well, I do. And you’re looking at the life of the party from that wedding.

Cyndi, Bob, Amanda and Nicole are old friends of Stefanie’s family, and it was so much fun to meet them at that wedding. They danced, they laughed and they totally enjoyed the evening. They are non-stop laughs.

I was so excited when Cyndi called me to have their family portraits taken. Can you believe the last time they were photographed was when one of their girls was 7 years old?

On the “non-stop laughs” note, see above on the right for Bob’s “casual walking” look. I laughed through this whole session.

The boy and his dump truck

I’m going to be honest — a lot of the kids I photographed are being bribed. Parents say things like, “Remember what we talked about, we get ice cream if we’re good today!” or “Do you want to stay up later than your bedtime? Smile at the camera!” It cracks me up, but also, it totally works.

This is Brock. Brock is three, and you’re looking at his bribe — he got to bring along his brand-new dump truck to our session at the Nike campus.

Brock and his little brother, Porter, were so good as we galavanted around the Nike campus on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. Their mom, Kasi, lived next door to me when I was almost too young to remember, and it was so fun to get together and meet her family. She and Nick were high school sweethearts and are so much fun to be around.

There are so many fun things to do on that campus, and especially if you’re a kid.

Nick and Kasi, thanks for being so much fun to hang out with and photograph! You guys rock and I can’t wait to see you again soon.

The family that jumps together…

This is a family close to my heart. This is the Halls. I have known Jeff and Koleen since I was about 12, when I started acting and Jeff was one of my teachers. I met their great kids, Kelsey and Michael, not long after. Now suddenly, Kelsey is headed off to college and I can barely believe it! Time flies when you’re having fun.

They’ve got skills, that’s all I’ve got to say. First, they frolicked…

…then they jumped! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get four people to jump in sync, AND no one blink?!? Leave it to them.

We squeezed this session in just before Kelsey headed off to college in the Midwest – I know she’s going to have a great year!

I love this mom/daughter and dad/son spread – it’s so them!

You guys are so wonderful – thanks for being so supportive of me over the years! Thanks for a great afternoon spent together!
