Save that Date!

Engagement

March 10th, 2010

I’m a little bit in love with cute postcard save-the-dates these days. Last month, I met up with Liz and Eric (one of my fabulous October wedding couples) so we could snag a few cute photos for their save-the-dates.

The weather has been so nice in Portland and I love that Liz and Eric walked down to meet me at the park with their dog, Chester. They have such a great laid-back vibe and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding!

With engagement photos, we can make some really fun save-the-date cards. If you’re interested in getting some of these, let me know and we’ll make it happen!

Thanks, Liz and Eric, for being so laid back and fun to photograph! I can’t wait to do it again.

What do you think wedding photographers do in the winter, when there isn’t a wedding every single weekend and times are a little slow? Well, when we get a little too bored and uninspired, sometimes we resort to photographing each other. Luckily, all my photographer friends are pretty people.

Wedding photographer, Portland Oregon

This is Ian and Maalaea. They are a husband-wife team who photograph weddings in Portland and beyond (as i and m photo), and they’re also my friends.

Maalaea and Ian and I got together back near the end of January on N. Mississippi Avenue for a little blast of color and energy in that gray, dreary month.

I love the energy and life on this one street — we saw chickens, fresh flowers, coffee shops, restaurants, shoppers and cyclists.

No session is complete without a little jumping around, right?

I love the way Maalaea and Ian look at each other. It’s so fun to photograph people in love!

Thanks, Maalaea and Ian, for joining me on that gray January day and for being such great photo buddies!

He and She, part two

When we left off yesterday, Alexis and Daniel were posing for their engagement session. We did this session at the park near Lake Sacajawea in Longview, Washington, where they live. I lived there when I was in grade school and this park is still one of my mom’s favorite places. She’s sad that her kids didn’t get married at the community church right on the lake.

Look at these two! I love it. They are so sweet together.

Isn’t the Internet wonderful? Without it, I wouldn’t have met Alexis and Daniel. Thanks to the introduction of a mutual friend (who I hadn’t talked to in 15 years!) I now have the wonderful opportunity to photograph their wedding in October. We met up recently to do their engagement session, which was so fun.

When I said, “How about piggy-back?” she turned to him and said, “Alright, hop on Daniel!”

This is Alexis and Daniel’s dog, Riley. He is so sweet and full of energy!

Cute fun fact: Alexis and Daniel picked out each other’s outfits for this combination. I think they did a great job!

Check back tomorrow for a few more from this fun lakeside session!

A Pacific Northwest love story, part two

Engagement

When we left off yesterday, we were enjoying the eye candy of Missy & Fred, who are getting married in August. Missy charmed me with her pink dress and Fred with his dimples. They are seriously so sweet together!

I was so excited to meet these guys at last, since most of our arrangement-making has been done through their awesome wedding coordinator, Brooke from Bellissimo Wedding and Event Planning.  I’m so looking forward to working with her!

When Eric looked at the above picture, he said it would be a good one for the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce – ha! I love it.

Love the calmness of this last one. Thanks, Missy and Fred, for coming out to play with me! I can’t wait to see you next month for the big day!

Missy is from Spokane, and Fred is from Astoria. Now they live in Portland, and next month they’re getting married. I met up with them a couple of weeks ago for their engagement session in Lake Oswego and I really enjoyed seeing how they are together.

Missy and Fred are totally laid-back and really genuine people. We picked just about the perfect day, right at sunset as the sun gets warm and yellow.

I’m really looking forward to Missy and Fred’s wedding, which is going to be in Astoria at the end of August. What a great looking couple!

So sweet, my teeth hurt: part two

Engagement

July 14th, 2009

When we left off, I was examining the utter cuteness that is Ryan and Alyssa. They are getting married in September and then shipping off to somewhere with the Coast Guard when Ryan goes active duty, so they’ve got adventure ahead!

Wedding photographer, Portland, Cannon Beach, Oregon

OK, cute story: when I was taking the above photo, Ryan looked up, saw the reflection of Alyssa in the glass of the camera lens and said, “Oh, I can see your reflection Alyssa! You are so cute!” Those, ladies and gentlemen, are the words of a man in love.

Wedding photographer, Portland, Cannon Beach, Oregon

I’m also super excited because Alyssa and Ryan ordered a photo guest book from this session to use at their wedding and it came back sooooo cute!

I am so excited to see what’s in store for these two. With their happy faces and great relationship, it should be smooth sailing (pun fully intended, Ryan!)

Thanks, Alyssa and Ryan! You guys are loads of fun and I wish you all the best!

I hope for your sake that you’ve met a couple like this. They bring happiness into a room with them. This is Alyssa and Ryan, and they are one of the sweetest couples I’ve met recently.

Wedding photographer, Portland, Oregon Coast, Oregon

I met up with Alyssa and Ryan in Cannon Beach to do their engagement photos a few weeks ago and we had so much fun! They ran and played and danced. These are the days I love my job!

Wedding photographer, Portland, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Alyssa has a cousin who will be doing her wedding photos, which makes me sad because I so loved photographing these two! I’d love to be the one there on their wedding day – but that’s alright, at least I got to hang out with them this day.

Wedding photographer, Portland, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Seriously, how cute are they? I love when you spend time with a couple and you can just tell they’re truly best friends.

Stay tuned tomorrow for more of Alyssa and Ryan’s fun engagement photos!

A sweet Cougar love story, part two

Engagement

July 9th, 2009

Paul and Andrea are so sweet together – and I actually adore their height difference. It makes them unique as a couple, and I love how they’re not self-conscious about it!

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

Obviously we all went to the better university in Washington, but I have to say, the UW campus is pretty freakin’ unbelievable to photograph around!

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

Aren’t they sweet together? For their wedding, Andrea had a set of felt bird cake toppers custom-made, and Paul’s little bird has his own set of glasses! I can’t wait to get my hands on those little guys.

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

This last set is one of my favorites from the whole shoot – I love the vibe on University Avenue and how vibrant everything is there.

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

Thanks, Andrea and Paul, for being so fun to work with! I loved our engagement session and I can’t wait for the wedding!

A sweet Cougar love story

Engagement

July 8th, 2009

Alright, I’ll admit it: the campus at the University of Washington is pretty! It pains my heart to say that as a graduate of WSU, but I’m getting over it. So are Paul and Andrea, who are both Cougs too, but they both work for the UW now and live in Seattle. We met up there for their engagement session a couple of weeks ago and had so much fun!

Wedding photographer, Seattle Washington

This is the UW library, which is one of the more stunning buildings I know of. I can’t wait to photograph there again sometime – we might have ventured inside if it had been open!

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

We go back a little ways – my freshman year in college, I went out with Paul’s roommate for a little while and when I worked on my college newspaper, I interviewed and photographed Andrea once for a story about a fundraiser she was doing. It’s been so fun to reconnect with them after all these years!

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

Paul cracked me up during this shoot. Andrea picked some great clothes for him, and he kept saying “I don’t wear V-necks! I’m not Adam Lambert!”

Wedding photographer, Seattle, Washington

Paul and Andrea are getting married in October, and it’s going to be so cute! They have such lovely touches picked out for it that I can’t wait to photograph! Check back tomorrow for more photos of Paul and Andrea!
