Perfectly paired

Engagement

June 3rd, 2009

Callie and Ray are a perfect match. He’s shy and she coaxes him out of his shell. He adores her and she lights up when he’s around. Taking all this into account, I’d say it’s a good thing they’re taking the plunge – they’re getting married next month!

Last weekend, we met up in Seaside, where they were spending a romantic weekend away, and had some fun with engagement photos. It was such a beautiful day.

I have to give Callie and Ray major points for what I’d call “good sport-itude.” When I was advising on what they should wear for the shoot, I suggested Callie wear a dress because I’m a sucker for all things flirty and feminine. Ray told me Callie’s fundamentally opposed to wearing dresses, but lo and behold, she found one just for the shoot and I think she looked amazing.

Callie is a journalist and Ray is an attorney in Aberdeen, the small town where I used to live. I love that in the small town, they have a whole community rooting for them. I can’t wait for the wedding and to see all that support and excitement in one place.

A growing family with 12 legs

Families

June 2nd, 2009

I so love reconnecting with old friends. But this old friend is one that never really disappeared – after we went off to different high schools, we reconnected when Desi became one of my sister’s sorority sisters. Now she’s married to Brad, and their family is growing with puppies. How cute are they?

We went exploring over the weekend out near Sherwood, Ore., where the wineries abound and the beautiful valleys make me one happy photographer. Add puppies to that mix, and life is good. I had so much fun hanging out with them all!

Brad took off running at one point and it was another of those “magic moments” for me – good thing I was poised and ready! I shot in this orchard once before on a foggy day in the winter. It looked like a haunted forest back then – what a difference a few months can make.

Dogs are hilarious to photograph – they give you these looks like, “Seriously, what are you doing?” I think they see the absurdity in it all more frequently than we do.

Jasmine, Millie, Desi and Brad – Thank you! I had so much fun hanging out with you and I can’t wait to see you again soon!

Who’s up for a June contest?

Contests

June 1st, 2009

It’s that time again – let’s give something away! In the coming months, I’ve got some great new giveaways coming, so make sure to meet back here on the first of each month.

This month, I’m giving away a $200 credit to be used toward any of my photography packages. That includes weddings, senior portraits and family portraits – we’re in the season for all of them!

You know the drill: if you want to win it, leave a comment on this post. I’ll draw on Wednesday, June 3 and award the winner their prize! Remember to forward this to your friends so everyone gets a chance to win.

This is a sneak peek of a session I took over the weekend that I’m still working on – look for it tomorrow on the blog!
